Duane White

Duane White, 87, of Faulkton, formerly of Cresbard, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Faulkton Senior Living.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 8, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wecota, with Pastor Timothy Koch presiding. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A prayer service was held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton, with family present from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Duane Arthur White was born November 19, 1929 on the family farm near Norbeck, SD to Elmer and Anna (Holscher) White. He attended country school in Norbeck and graduated from Cresbard High School in 1947. On June 17, 1950, Duane married Maxine Bierman. They had three children, Sherry, Kim and Marsha.
In his early days, Duane farmed in Chelsea and Wecota. He then worked for the Farmers Elevator in Wecota and later, the Cresbard Elevator. Due to health reasons, he retired in 1979.
He was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Duane was very proud of celebrating 37 years of sobriety and being a member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed pinochle, jigsaw puzzles and listening to books on tape. He loved to garden, make pickles and make homemade ice cream to give away.
Duane is survived by his wife of 67 years, Maxine; daughter, Sherry (Earl) Fix of Faulkton; son, Kim (Bonnie) White of Meridian, MS; six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; brothers: Raymond (Jan) White of Winchester, VA and Marvin (Donna) White of Rapid City, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Marsha on October 4, 1977; sister, Gladys Hunt; grandson-in-law, Vernon Ritchey; and nephew, Robert Hunt.
