Earlene Gerhardtene Moreno was born on January 20, 1954, in California, to Jennie (Silva) and Earl Moreno. She was born alongside her twin sister, Darlene, and a few years later, their younger sister, Kathy, joined the family. The sisters were raised in the Los Angeles area.

Earlene met John Jones in August of 1969, and the couple was united in marriage in 1972. Together they built a family and were blessed with two children: Lorey Tabitha Jones, born October 29, 1970, and John Marvin Jones III, born September 29, 1972.

Earlene was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren, Zachary Curtis Jones, born July 6, 1991, and Jennie Marie Pernini, born November 13, 1992. Jennie blessed the family with three great-grandchildren: Winter, Scarlet, and Asher.

In 1973, Earlene and her family moved to Florida, where she worked in several roles, including as a nurse’s aide and later as an elementary school kitchen supervisor. In early 2006, following John’s retirement, the couple relocated to South Dakota. There, Earlene worked for several years as a cashier at Bauer’s Super Value and became a familiar and friendly face in the community.

Earlene spent the last year of her life at Faulkton Senior Living, where she was cared for with kindness and compassion.

Earlene is survived by her husband, John Jr.; her children: Lorey and John III; grandchildren: Zachary and Jennie; great grandchildren: Winter, Scarlet, and Asher: twin sister, Darlene; and several nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember her with love.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jennie and Earl Moreno, and her sister, Kathy Moreno.
