Edith Brooks
March 23, 1915 ~ December 10, 2007
Edith Brooks, 92, of Lantry, passed away Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Golden Living Center in Pierre.
Funeral services were held at 11:00a.m.MST, Saturday, December 15, 2007 at the United Church of Christ in Dupree with Reverend Ellis Carr officiating. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service. Burial was in the Dupree Cemetery, directed by Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte.
Edith Pearl Wilson was born March 23, 1915 at Pushamahata County, Oklahoma to Joseph Edward and Eula Mae (Bradshaw) Wilson.
Edith married Homer Ray Brooks on December 24, 1936 in Ft. Worth, Texas. They lived in the Justin, Texas and West Texas areas until 1950. They then moved to a ranch three miles west of Lantry, SD. Edith lived there until October of 2004 when she entered Beverly Healthcare in Rapid City where she resided until April of 2005, at which time, she moved to the Golden Living Center in Pierre, SD.
Edith is survived by one son, Charlie Ray (Ruby Powell) Brooks of Dupree; five grandchildren: Tracie Brooks (Dale)Henderson, Todd (Jeanne Jewell)Brooks, Travis (Dena Feller) Brooks, Troy (Callie Palmer) Brooks and Thane Brooks (Fiance Carrie George); 10 great grandchildren: Blaine, Daryl, Robert, Kym, Kolby, Krystan, Sage, Bennett, Lanny, and Madison; one brother, Berlie Wilson of Merbel, TX; and many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Homer Ray Brooks, and 10 brothers and sisters.




While therer are no words can ease the sorrow of Aunt Edith’s passing, please take comfort in knowing that she is now with our lord and that we will all one day be reunited again.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss. She was a wonderful person and will be dearly missed. I will keep the family in my thoughts and prayers through this hard time.
