Eileen Wherry
July 24, 1929 ~ December 5, 2009
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Burial was in the Faulkton Cemetery.
Audrey Eileen was born July 24, 1929 at Mt. Vernon, Washington to John and Ellen (Bernard) Safstrom. Later they moved to the Everett, Washington area where she graduated from Everett High School. She served in the Naval Reserves during the Korean War. It was at that time she met and married her husband, Robert.
Her hobbies included fishing, golf, bridge, darts, gambling, gardening, metal detecting and attending her children’s and grandchildren’s many activities.
Our treasured memories of her include her competitive spirit, quick wit, her beautiful singing voice, and the sharing of her boundless energy with her friends and family.
Eileen is survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert of Faulkton, SD; daughter, Cindy (Tim) Kuhl of Olympia, WA; son, Scott (Kristi) Wherry of Aberdeen, SD; sisters: Wilma Larsen of Anchorage, AK, Millie Sinnott of Spokane, WA and Mabel Quirk of Granite Falls, WA; grandchildren: Nicole Schaeffer, Jayme (Tommy) Wang, and Logan and Alyssa Wherry; Great Grandchildren: Nicolas and Lucy Wang; and her many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers: Earl and Jack Safstrom.
The family requests memorials that will be donated to Eileen’s favorite charities.

Bob, Cindy & Tim, Scott & Kristi and families..
I tried to sign this once earlier today, but it hasn’t appeared, so will try again.
My deepest sympathies for the loss of our dear Eileen. She was such a character and so much fun! I have many fond memories with the Wherry’s. During this Christmas season, I think about having tacos, first at your house and then the next year at ours. I remember Mom & Eileen making tons of Christmas cookies and also bags of sweet corn. And then just coffee and cookies at the kitchen table. I sat out there as often as I could to get in on everything.
Eileen took me fishing at the Faulkton Lake and golfing at the Lakeside Golf Course. She was always up to do something!!!! We will miss her.
I’m sorry to have missed the service today. We are in a blizzard! But, I have been thinking about you today and for the past several months!
Love,
Jill
Bob & Family, my thoughts and condolences are with you. I love you very much, Eileen, and will miss you dearly.
Bob and family, You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I will always remember coffee with Grandma Jean and the girls and the “funny” Eileen. She was always my favorite and always made me laugh. She will be missed by so many. With love and sympathy, Kim and family
