Ella R. Premus, 90, of Seneca, passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017 at Avera St. Mary’s Hospital, Pierre.

A memorial service was held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, October 8, 2017 at Christ Lutheran Church, Lebanon with Pastor David Otten presiding. Burial of her cremains was at Oakland Cemetery, Seneca.

Ella Ruth Liechti was born in January of 1927 near Latham Lake in Faulk County.  She was the 10th child of John and Marie “Mary” (Studer) Liechti and grew up on the family farm.  Ella graduated from Seneca High School in 1945 as valedictorian of her class and attended Dakota Wesleyan University. 

She was a lifelong member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Seneca, having been the first child baptized in the church, and was a member of St. Paul’s Ladies Aid.  Ella marked many family events at St. Paul’s, including her marriage to Ruben Premus in 1948 and the baptisms of her son and granddaughter. 

Ella is survived by her son, James Premus; granddaughter, Carleen (Steve) Armstrong; great-grandson, Luke Armstrong; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ruben Premus; parents; and siblings: Rose Fahrni, John Liechti, Jr., Alfred Liechti, Walter Liechti, Ernest Liechti, Frederick Liechti, Louisa Liechti, William Liechti, and Mary Peters.  

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Ella’s arrangements.
