On March 11, 1934 she married Emil Geist in Eureka. Together they made their home in the Eureka area until moving to Faulkton in 1946 where they farmed until Emil’s death in 1994. Following this Emma entered the Faulkton Healthcare Center until the time of her death. At that time she was the oldest living member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wecota.
Emma’s life was centered around her children and her love of the farm where she raised chickens and helped her husband with the farm work.
Emma was known for her famous egg sandwiches and long johns. She was especially fond of doing jig saw puzzles, embroidery, making quilts for her grandchildren and painting.
