Eric Lee Cook was born September 17, 1993 in Eagle Butte, SD to Deloris Bagola and the late Leslie Cook.

Eric attended Cheyenne Eagle Butte School, graduating in 2012. He went straight to work at the Eagle Stop following graduation. He then enrolled in the FLETC Indian Police Academy, graduating as a certified adult detention officer, and worked for some time in law enforcement. He was currently working for Cheyenne River Housing Authority as an environmental tech (Cam’s right-hand man) until the time of his passing.

Eric was the kind of person who would help with anything. He enjoyed mechanical work, changing oil, or fixing something; he loved his many cars and wouldn’t part with any of them.

Eric enjoyed being with family and friends. He had many good friends, whom he was always having a good time with. You would find him doing fun things with his nieces and nephews, they meant the world to him. He’d take them fishing, skate boarding, and even would babysit. They loved their “Uncle Eric”.

Eric met Hunter Mike, the love of his life. They shared good times together, he loved her so much, she was everything to him. Eric will be missed by everyone who loved him.

Eric is survived by his mother, Deloris Bagola, Eagle Butte; girlfriend: Hunter Mike, Eagle Butte; brothers: Rufus (Sami) Cook and children, Green Grass, and Nate (Aiden) Cook, Eagle Butte; sisters: Cori (Cyle) Chasing Hawk, Eagle Butte, Lucinda (Mark) Garter, Eagle Butte, and Megan Bagola, Vermillion; sister-in-law: Theresa (Mitch) Kleinsasser; grandmothers: Grace Larrabee, Hilda Marshall, Eva Jost, Laura Bagola, and Maryann Fisher; special uncle, Dale Bagola; and many other aunts and uncles.
