Ernie R. Lewellen, 77, of Miller, died Sunday, January 20, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Miller. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 26 at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Friday, January 25 from 4:00-5:00 p.m. with a 5:00 p.m. prayer service all at Rembold Funeral Home.

Ernest Rodney Lewellen was born July 3, 1935 at Miller South Dakota to Willard and Margaret Lewellen.

He married Alona Anderson on October 15, 1960, in Bruce, South Dakota at the American Lutheran Church. They lived in Bird Island Minnesota for one year then moved to Miller South Dakota until his passing.

Ernest worked for M&M Tire Shop and then he went to work at Scherr Implement. He owned Ernie and Son?s Tire and later sold it to Midwest Tire and remained on as the manager. After Midwest Tire closed he went to work at Stobbs Sales where he worked until he went to work at the Hand County Court House as a maintenance man until he retired in 1997.

Ernie was a volunteer firefighter for 18 years. He enjoyed wood working and loved to play cards with friends and family. He loved and cherished being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Alona; three children, Rodney (Michele) Lewellen of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Bill (Nancy) Lewellen of Miller, South Dakota and Dawn (David) Peterman of Miller, South Dakota; and 9 grandchildren Ryan (Kristi), Joey, Sydnee and Konnor Lewellen, Sean, Nick and Amanda Lewellen, Cody and Colton Peterman. One sister Darla Welk of Miller, South Dakota and a brother Greg Lewellen of Burnsville, Minnesota.

He was proceeded in death by his parents
