Eunice Little Thunder, 76, of Red Scaffold, passed away Monday, January 15, 2007 at the Golden Living Meadowbrook Manor in Rapid City.
Services were 10:00a.m. MT, Monday, January 22 at the Red Scaffold Gym. Burial was in the Black Hills National Cemetery. Wake service was held on Sunday at 5:00p.m. with supper at 6:00p.m. and services at 7:00p.m. at the Gym.
Eunice Thunder Hoop was born May 30, 1930 to Harry and Ruth (Yellow Hawk) Thunder Hoop in Cherry Creek, SD. She was the youngest of 7 children.
Eunice had fond memories of attending school at Old Cheyenne Agency. She also worked with her sister, Rose, as a nurses aide at Mary House in Pierre. She attended many mission meetings with her parents and often spoke about the places she had been. Eunice, along with her husband Gilbert, enjoyed music very much. They would sing at Christmas gatherings and sang gospel songs as well. She played the guitar, piano and the accordian. Eunice’s hobbies also included baking and sewing star quilts.
Eunice married Gilbert Little Thunder on October 4, 1959. To this union 7 children were born: Ken, Harry, Iris, Ida, Delora, Olivia and Julia. Eunice has 13 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister: Drucilla Widow.
Eunice is preceded in death by her husband Gilbert Little Thunder; parents Harry and Ruth Thunder Hoop; brothers Harry, Jr., Ernest and Craig Thunder Hoop and Steven Charging Eagle; sisters Eva and Rose Thunder Hoop; nephew Tom Charging Eagle and granddaughter Ruth Blair Marrowbone.
