Evelyn B. Halen, 90, of Miller and formerly of Wessington, died Sunday, September 16, 2007 at the Miller Good Samaritan Center.
Funeral services were held at 10:30a.m., Thursday, September 20, 2007 at the Reck Funeral Home, Miller, with Rev. Allen Sager officiating. Burial was in the Wessington Cemetery. Visitation was 4:00-8:00p.m., Wednesday, September 19 at the Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
Evelyn was born December 22, 1916 in Vananda, MT to Maurice and Minnie (Croes) Crossman. Her father died shortly after her birth.
She was the last living family member of her generation and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by an adopted brother Maurice Hain, Great Falls, MT; daughter, Barbara Wolfe, Reedsburg, Wisconsin; son and daughter-in-law Craig and Mary Halen, Maple Grove, MN; grandson, Derek Halen, Maple Grove, MN; granddaughter Kim Wolfe and great-grandchildren Jacob Grooms, Juliann Grooms and Kelsie Graves, North Freedom, WI; cousin Luella Schultz (Crossman), who was with her near the end of her life, and her husband Casey Schultz, Miller, SD; and other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her mother, Minnie Hain; stepfather, Jacob Hain; and beloved husband, Cap Halen, who passed in 1986 after more than 45 years of marriage. She was also preceded by sister’s Marion Saylor, Rosalyn Etem, Irma Dobler and Myrtle Miles who she greatly missed.
Memorials are preferred to the Miller Good Samaritan Center; Avera St. Lukes North Plains Hospice and volunteers; or the American Cancer Society.

So sorry to hear of your mother’s passing.
She contacted me a few times since I’ve lived in Miller, about something I’d written, and then she just liked to chat.
