Evelyn Louise Todd was born July 27, 1917 at home on the farm in Farmington Township, Sully County, South Dakota to Melvin and Anna (Lomheim) Todd. She attended high school in Agar, graduating in 1934. Evelyn went on to attend Aberdeen Normal School for one year and attained her teaching certificate. She taught country grade school for two years in Sully County.

On September 12, 1937 in Oregon Evelyn married Herbert Anderson. To this union one son, Kenneth Lloyd Anderson was born on June 23, 1938. She committed the remainder of her life to being a homemaker and mother. Together the family resided in Avon Springs Township, Potter County until moving to Gettysburg in 1983. She entered the Oahe Villa Assisted Living in December 2000 and the Oahe Manor in September 2004.

Evelyn was a member of Grace Bible Church which she and Herb helped form in 1964.

A key to the life she enjoyed and shared with others was her personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Many remember her as their Sunday school teacher who required them to learn Scripture and work it into their lives. In later years, those who knew her were blessed with her smiles, supportive care and generosity.

Evelyn’s life will be remembered by her son: Kenneth (Corrine) Anderson of Grapevine, TX; four grandchildren and nine great grandchildren: Tamara and Alan Atwell with Jordan and Jared, Todd and Nancy Anderson with Parker, Logan, and Carter, Troy and Jennie Anderson with Carlie and Keaton, and Tate and Kristy Anderson with Alexa and Davis all who reside in the Dallas/Fort Worth, TX area; one sister: Phyllis Smith of McMinnville, OR and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herb Anderson in 1996; her parents; and two sisters: Beulah Todd and Helen Wart.

The family requests memorial donations to Grace Bible Church, 310 S Broadway, Gettysburg, SD 57442 or the Oahe Manor, 700 E Garfield, Gettysburg, SD 57442.
