Frank Charles Veit was born February 18, 1956 to Roy and Irene (Johnson) Veit in Faith, SD. He was the 6th child out of 10. Frank grew up on his parent’s ranch, 15 miles north of Dupree. He attended High Point country school until 8th grade, finished his four years of high school at Dupree where he graduated in 1975. After graduation Frank worked for his father on the ranch. In 1976 he married Brenda Clown and had eight children: Frankee, Ford, Colt, Sabra, Joni, Roy, Karyne and JoRae. Frank was a very proud father and loved each and every one of his children very much. Frank made his living ranching, operating heavy machinery, construction work and mechanic work.
Frank is survived by his wife, Brenda Veit; his children: Frankee (Dale LaCompte), Colt (Daysha Marrow), Sabra (Marshall Totton), Joni, Roy (Mikki), Karyne and JoRae (Shailo Hollow Horn); his grandchildren: Sasha & Jimi Condon, Jackson & Matty Harrison, Selena Longbrake, Mason Schrempp, Ryder Veit, Chandler Veit and Lilly Veit; great-grandchildren: Roman Thompson, Kyran Condon, and Tavien Felix; mother, Irene Veit; four brothers: Dan (Paula), Tiger, Jim, and Jack (Lisa); three sisters: Lila (George) Lafferty, Dona (Kimball) Russell, and Mary (Larry) Reede; long time best friend, Larry Reede; and many nieces, nephews and in laws. Frank opened his home to many others and loved them as his own along with his wife Brenda.
Frank was preceded in death by his grandparents: Frank & Nora Veit and Ace & May Johnson; his father, Roy Veit; brother, Jerry Veit; sister, Linda Veit; son, Ford Veit; and grandson, Range Hollow Horn.
Frank was always good for a welcoming smile and a wise joke. He got the joy of teasing and was good at drawing people into his jokes. He just sometimes forgot to let them know that it was one.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Frank’s arrangements.
