Fredrick “Fritz” Myers, 88, of Faulkton, passed away Monday, January 3, 2011, at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 7, 2011 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Faulkton with Father Joji Itukulapati officiating. Burial followed at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  A liturgical wake service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 6, 2011 at the church.

Fredrick Myers was born October 31, 1922 at Providence Hospital in Faulkton, SD to Edwin and Harriet (Kuhl) Myers.  He attended the Taylor Country School until the 8th grade. He then worked on the family farm with his father. Fritz continued farming and ranching the majority of his life.

On June 26, 1946, Fritz married Doris Frasier at St. Thomas parsonage, Faulkton. They raised their family on the family ranch and each of their children attended the same country school Fritz did. Two days prior to Fritz’s and Doris 60th wedding anniversary, Fritz joined St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton.

Fritz enjoyed his life immensely. The time he could spend hunting, fishing for bullheads, dancing and spending time with family was always treasured by him. He also loved being the jokester.

 

Fritz is survived by his wife: Doris of Faulkton; his six children: David of Belle Fourche, Ronald (Linda) of Mobridge, Thomas (Mary) of Spearfish, Connie (Mark) Selting of Kilgore, NE, Richard (Kim) of Belle Fourche and George (Julie) of Belle Fourche; his 16 grandchildren: Keith Myers (Cassidy Oliver), Jason Myers, Dawn (Bob) Tesch, Laura Myers, Jerry (Twila) Myers, Teri (Fred) Kiewel, Shawn Myers, Tommy Myers, Taylor Selting, Jeremy (Jennifer) Myers, Erik (Amber) Myers, Ryan (Jennifer) Bush, Robin Bush, Amber (Terry) Dierkson, and Andy and Adam Ryman; 24 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and one brother: Brother Bill Myers, OSL of Faulkton.

His parents preceded him in death. 

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Fritz’s arrangements.

    So sorry to hear about Fritz passing. I can remember fishing with him and Dad. To this day I can’t eat a bullhead. He will always hold a special place in my heart because he made me laugh. He was a good friend to our family and he will be remembered dearly.

  8. doris I will not be able to attend Frits funeral due to weather. Our thoughts and prayer surround you. I have many fond memories of Fritz’s big smile, his eyes lighting up when he spotted you coming and waving good bye. He loved seeing his family. I remember his smile when Aleah visited. I will always cherish seeing you as acouple hand in hand, hugs, side by side at music events, puzzling or watching movies in Fritz room. As Lauretta said you were a good wife.   11. Doris, My folks knew your family well and I always marveled at how faithful and attentive you were to Fritz while in the nursing home. Always enjoyed our visits when we came to see Mom before she passed away. Soory this is late but still do not have the Faulkton Record of Fritz death. I heard about from the visit Bill made in Mitchell at Donna Hillmans on the way to the funeral.
