Garret E. Gilmore, 59, of Gettysburg, passed away Saturday, November 22, 2014 at Avera Gettysburg Hospital.

There will be no services held.

Garret Edward Gilmore was born September 24, 1955 in Waco, TX to Leola (Heckman) and Claude Gilmore. Garret spent most of his life in Texas, and he worked for Roden’s Associates for 22 years as a draftsman.

On December 11, 1999, he married his wife of almost 15 years, Lou Gilmore. In 2005, Garret and Lou relocated to South Dakota. In his free time Garret enjoyed games, building model cars, fishing, and reading. He was a loving and caring husband. He was very outgoing and also had a great sense of humor. Garret was the best father toward his children, and he was always willing to help or listen to others. He will be greatly missed and forever loved.

Garret is survived by his wife, Lou Gilmore; his children: Tammy Robert, Kelly Gilmore, Jennifer Gilmore, Terry Gilmore, and Stacy Gilmore; his step-daughter, Kara Davis; and his 11 grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

  5. I never got the chance to meet you but I feel like I did. I’ve gotten to taste many of your food delicacies that you passed down to your daughter, I have learned and stolen some traits as well. I know that you will deeply be missed and even as I’ve only heard you over speaker phone a couple of times, even just your voice made me smile!

  6. I’m going to miss you so much daddy. You were always my rock and laughter when I needed it. You taught me so much and is the best father I could ask for. You will always still live within me and I will always cherish every moment/talk we ever had. I love you so much.

  7. May you rest in peace and enjoy the visits with your loved ones past.

  8. I love you dad so very much you taught me everything I know anytime I needed to talk you were only a phone call away when I’m upset you made me feel better you will be missed dearly
