Gary Elliott
September 27, 1942 ~ June 8, 2017
Gary H. Elliott, 74, of Highmore, passed away Thursday, June 8, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family.
At Gary's request, there will be no services.
Gary was raised on a dairy farm in central New York State and attended Syracuse University. He moved to Colorado in 1968.
Gary was married to Nancy (Demarest) on October 16, 1980 in Pueblo, Colorado. Gary worked for several enterprises; he retired from EchoStar, Dish Network in October 1999. He and Nancy then moved to Highmore in May 2002.
He loved the outdoors, open spaces, hunting, trapping, camping and fishing, usually with his beloved springer spaniel, Squirt, by his side.
Although Gary’s daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren lived far away, they were always close at heart. His family has many cherished memories of time spent with him, sharing adventures, misadventures and experiences that opened their eyes and hearts to a way of life that they would not have otherwise known. He passed along an appreciation of many important things such as: being outdoors is good for your soul, taking time to enjoy simple things like baseball and popcorn, treating people like people and treating pets like people too.
His family is very proud and inspired by his 35 years of sobriety (which he celebrated this past January) proving that we are not defined by our past mistakes as long as we own up to them and it is never too late to change.
Gary’s straight talk, colorful stories, occasional orneriness, sense of humor, wisdom, guidance and even stubbornness will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
His family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Gary’s special neighbors and friends for all their kindness and support. Gary lived his life on his own terms and we are all better for having been a part of it.
Gary is survived by his wife, Nancy of Highmore; his daughter, Cheryl (Robert Charles Schoch III) Beach of Copley, OH; grandchildren: Erin, Allison, Brendan and Morgan of Copley, OH.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Gary’s arrangements.

So sorry Nancy..praying for you..God bless.
Thoughts and prayers for Gary’s family. Gary will be missed by the community.
Very Sad to hear of Gary’s passing. What an amazing man with great history. When they move to Highmore and bought our house and took over our cat Cougar we new he was special. He will be missed what a great supporter of our home team. A man that was so humble but he had done it all. RIP Gary.

Gary was such a great friend and neighbor. A great supporter of the kids. He loved watching them playing sports. Him and his wife even traveled out to Sturgis to watch THEIR kids play ball. We will miss him very much. We took care of each others animals and spent many hours visiting back and forth. RIP dear friend.
Our prayers are with you, Nancy and family.
