Gayle Holy

Gayle Holy, 50, of San Carlos Apache Reservation, AZ and formerly of Bridger, SD, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at Campbell County Memorial Hospital, Gillette, WY.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m, MST, Thursday, July 7, 2016 at the Takini Gym with Pastor Kevin Cassadore presiding. Burial will follow in St. Leo’s Cemetery, Takini. A wake service will be at 7:00 p.m., MST, Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the gym, with visitation to begin at 4:00p.m.

Gayle Louis Holy was born December 25, 1965, in Bridger, SD to Martin J. Holy and Leona Agnes Bear Eagle. He attended school in Philip and Bridger, SD.   He later went on to receive his G.E.D.   Gayle married Mary Gibson on July 3, 1999. The couple had been together since 1996. They resided in San Carlos, AZ.

Gayle will be remembered for his love of the outdoors including fishing, hunting, and cutting wood which earned him the nickname “Wood Chuck”. He also did work as a skilled auto mechanic, and was a firefighter.

Gayle will be dearly missed by his wife, Mary of San Carlos, AZ; his father, Martin J. Holy of Bridger, SD; brothers: Robert (Bob) Holy of Dupree, SD, and Elmer Red Bull of California; half-sisters: Karna S. Red Bull of Albuquerque, NM and Vanissa (Gabe) Black Moon of Fort Yates, ND; three Hunka sons: Andrew King, Kevin Cassadore and Mathias Kindelay all of San Carlos, AZ; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Gayle was preceded in death by his mother, Leona Agnes Bear Eagle; brother, Marcellus Martin Holy; and sisters, Gail Lauris Red Bull and Berva Red Bull.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Gayle’s arrangements.
