Gladys Parsons

Graveside service were held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 at the Prairie Grove Cemetery, Hoven with Pastor Peter Utecht officiating. Visitation was 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, December 4, 2009 at the Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg.
Gladys Rud was born May 18, 1933 at Gettysburg, SD to Harold and Emma (Udahl) Rud. She attended area rural schools and graduated from Gettysburg High School in 1953. Gladys went on to receive her nurses training in Pierre. She worked in the nursing field for 47 years in Pierre, Gettysburg and Redfield.
On December 22, 1957 she married Ray Parsons at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gettysburg. They have made Potter County their home since 1972.
Gladys was baptized and confirmed in the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, at Gettysburg, where she taught Sunday school and was part of the choir. She enjoyed watching nature, gardening, caring for the elderly and spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons: David H. Parsons and Dan Parsons both of Lebanon and Darwin Parsons of Pierre; daughters: Tina Ready and special friend, Allen Merrill, of Gettysburg and Rose Pratt of Ocala, FL; grandchildren: Robert Gloe, Daryl Ready, Christopher Pratt and step grandchildren: Jennifer Gloe and Elizabeth (Chip) Olson; step great grandchildren: Jimmy and Angel Gloe and Billy, Joey and CJ Olson; three siblings: Herbert (Edina) Rud of Pierre, Mary Parsons and Betty (Don) Berger both of Whitewood.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and two brothers, Emil and Donald Rud.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Gladys’ arrangements.

I am saddened to hear the news of Gladys’s passing.
She was a caring nurse who had a quick wit about her. I always enjoyed the times I got to work with “my favorite nurse!”
