Glenn W. Walberg Sr., 86, of Miller, formerly of Aberdeen, died Monday, January 14 at the Prairie Good Samaritan Center in Miller. Prayer service was at the St. Lawrence Community Church on Thursday, January 17 at 7:00 p.m. The family was present from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Memorial service was Friday, January 18 at the St. Lawrence Community Church at 11:00 a.m. with the Rev. John Rasko officiating. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Rembold Funeral Home of St. Lawrence.
Glenn Warren Walberg was born July 17, 1921 at Mina, SD to Peter and Mary (Babcock) Walberg. He grew up on the family farm attending country school near Mina. In 1939 he graduated from Mina High School. Glenn attended Northern College in Aberdeen until his father?s death, when he returned home to operate the family farm.
On June 11, 1949 he married Vera Light at the First Presbyterian Church in Aberdeen. To this union two children were born, Glenn Jr. and Shirley. In 1954 Glenn started Walberg Construction. He built many spec houses, remodeled homes and built numerous homes for his family. After retiring Glen and Vera moved to their home on Pickeral Lake to spend their summers. They spent their winters going south, finally settling in Yuma, AZ. In May of 2003 they moved to Miller to be closer to family.
Survivors include his wife Vera of Miller; one son Glenn (Sue) Walberg Jr. of Windsor, CO; one daughter Shirley (Ernie) Stirling of Miller; 5 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.
