Grace Isabel Roseland was born March 12, 1911 in Seneca to Gabriel T. and Elizabeth Ann (Linton) Roseland. Grace was fond of saying she was the 12th child, born on the 12th day at the 12th hour and weighing 12 lbs! She attended school in Seneca and worked at the soda fountain in the local drug story for 10 cents per hour. She babysat and also worked as a telephone operator during her youth in Seneca.
On January 29, 1927, Grace married Otto Hagenlock, a local farmer in the Seneca area. To this union, two children were born, Marilyn and Elaine. After living the first year of their married life with her parents, Grace and Otto moved to their family farm and remained there for 45 years, until retiring to Faulkton in 1974. Grace enjoyed her life on the farm with Otto, looking forward to each spring when Otto would bring her the first yellow rose of the season, and to the fall when the sunflower fields would bloom and provided her with a countryside of yellow color.
Grace attended the Methodist Church as a child, and later joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in Seneca and then became a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church after moving to Faulkton. She was active as a member of the Autumn Leaves Senior Center in Faulkton, and loved to visit and play card games until her eyesight failed her in the later years. Grace entered the Faulkton Assisted Living Center during 2000 and in November 2002, she moved to the Faulkton Health Care Center.
Grateful to have shared in her life is a daughter: Marilyn (Harold) Rinehart of Highmore; son-in-law: Art (Janice) Hardie of Faulkton; 8 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Otto of 77 years; daughter: Elaine; 8 brothers; and 3 sisters.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to Our Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund.

Elaine said that Grace has been a mother to her, ever since she was a wee one, and she will truely be missed. Even tho Grace could not see, it was amazing how you could just go by her room, and be talking, and she would call out, it that you Jerry Buechler, or Amy. She was a great person, and will be missed.
We are so sad to hear that Great Aunt Grace has left us. We remember when Otto, Grace, and the girls would come to Grandpa Pauls house in the summer. Its been close to 30 years since we have seen every one, but memories will last for ever.
