Harvey W. Schraeder was born on November 7, 1944, to Louis and Ella (Herring) Schraeder.  He was the baby of seven children and grew up on the family farm southwest of Faulkton.

Harvey graduated from Faulkton High School in 1963.  After graduating, he worked on the family farm before pursuing other jobs, including working as a farmhand, truck driver and even a mail carrier.  He enjoyed meeting new people and seeing how technology had changed the farming world and even trucking.

On April 18, 1970, he married Rita (Engel) Bayles, and to this union four children were born Kasey, Kevin, Keith and Konni.

After moving to Pierre years later he met and married Elaine (Oestreich) in August of 1996, and to this union he gained a stepdaughter.  Harvey and Elaine would later move to Bowdle, before residing in Faulkton.

Harvey enjoyed and spent his time listening to country western music, watching rodeos, riding his motorcycle, visiting with family and friends, and of course “putting around” town.

He is survived by his three children: Kasey (Jackie) Schraeder of Faulkton, Kevin Schraeder of Virgil, and Konni (John) Giesen of Faulkton; one brother, Edward Schroeder of Round Lake Beach, IL; 11 grandkids; eight great grandkids; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Harvey was preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; parents, Louis and Ella; one son, Keith; stepdaughter, Dawn; and his five siblings: Ernest Schraeder, Dorothy O’Donnell, Mildred Potter, LeRoy Schraeder and Alvina Bowman.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Harvey’s arrangements.
