Helen Dreyer

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2009 at the United Church of Faulkton with Pastor Paul Smith officiating. Burial followed in the Millard Cemetery, rural Faulkton. Visitation was held from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 19, 2009 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at Luce Funeral Home in Faulkton.
Helen was born August 22, 1909 to Rudolph and Lela (Carpenter) Wakefield in Winston, Montana. She attended grade school in Wecota and later Cresbard High School. On March 8, 1933, she married Robert “Bob” Law in Ipswich, South Dakota.
Helen and Bob lived in the Norbeck and Wecota area for many years. In 1957, they moved to Faulkton where she worked at the Faulk County Memorial Hospital and later she was elected Faulk County Register of Deeds. She held this office for twenty years. She also was Resident Manager of “The Village”, member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Autumn Leaves Senior Center.
She loved watching bull riding, bowling, and the animal channel. She enjoyed playing cards. Bob passed away in 1976. She later married Alfred Dreyer in 1978. They made their home in Faulkton, spending the winters in New Mexico. Alfred passed away in 1987.
Grateful to have shared in her life are her daughters: Loreve (Delmar) Deiter of Faulkton and Judy (Arnold) Zueger of Sioux Falls; son: Jack Law of Faulkton; one step daughter: Jane Hottman; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Bob Law and Alfred Dreyer; son: Lucky; two sisters: Ella Mae Walton and Lucille Grigg; one brother: Beryln “Bud” Wakefield; one grandson: Lon Hunt and one son-in-law: Elden Hunt.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Helen's arrangements.
