Howard Haeder, 80, of Granite Falls, MN, and formerly of Wolsey, SD, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2026, in Wessington, SD.
A Celebration of Howard’s life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 13, 2026, at The Hub in Wolsey.
He was born August 16, 1945, at Sprague Hospital, Huron, SD, to Richard and Mary (Allbee) Haeder. Howard attended school in Wolsey, Huron, and Miller.
Howard primarily worked as a truck driver, over-the-road and local hauling. The man never met a stranger.
He was an avid sportsman. Hunting and fishing gave him great joy. He also enjoyed playing pool. He was inducted into the SDABA, VENA, and Heartland Hall of Fame.
Howard leaves behind his wife, Linda of Granite Falls, MN; daughter, Laura (Clyde) Elwood of Rapid City, SD, son, Jason (Autumn) Haeder of Montevideo, MN; granddaughter, Kimberlie (Jimmy) Hanks of Wessington, SD; great grandson, Hayes Hanks; brothers: Tom (Carolyn) Haeder of Maple Hill, KS, and Doug (Dorothy) Haeder of Mankato, MN; sister, Mary (Scott) Martens of Watertown, SD; sister-in-law, Becky Kjose of Alcester, SD; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Mary (Allbee) Haeder; and brother, Daniel Haeder.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Howard’s arrangements.

This breaks our hearts! So many great memories of spending time with Howard and you. He was a great friend and a good hunting and fishing companion.

Linda – as a young girl, I was enamored with this beautiful young couple who had such a chemistry! As a teenager, I saw you both in the Huron Mall parking lot and witnessed Howard opening the car door for you. I made a comment and he assured me that he will always do that.
