  19. My deepest condolences to the entire family, please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. I will always remember Uncle Howard when during a family gathering he would always manage to produce a jar with some kind of pickeled something or other in it. It could be veggies, fish, fruit meat or whatever. Everyone was obligated to take a taste but bless his heart, he would always take the first taste.

  20. my prayers are with all of you, what a special, loving man Howard was.

One of my favorite memories is of him sitting down, and he still seemed so big, with little kittens perched ALL over him, little-fluffly siamese kittens. One on each shoulder,in the crook of each elbow, at least 3 in his lap.

I remember one of the first meals we ate together was breakfast, and I looked around at all the food , and thought “but it’s not Thanksgiving.” There was three types of meat, and strawberry rhubard jam, which i of course didn’t think I would like.

I still tell people about doing chickens, and putting up corn, and the sauerkraut, and garlic strings.

He would take us sledding on the river and for a city girl, it was exhilirating and terrifying in equal parts. Della, remember the cut you got…….

Lovely memories of a simpler time.
    love Robin

  21. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

  24. Your family is in our hearts and prayers. Howard will be missed he touched many people like myself. I really enjoyed the fishing trips.

  25. Belva and family,
I am sorry to hear of the passing of uncle Howard. I wish I could have made it to the funeral but could not juggle my schedule enough to make the trip. I have been remembering you in my prayers though.
I remember Howard as the uncle who was never too busy to tease me no matter the occassion. Probably the most memorable moment though is when he took me ice fishing for the first time. My memory is faded some but it seems Dad, Dean and Lyle were there. I don’t remember how old I was, where we went or how many we caught. I know we caught at least one, because I remember thinking uncle Howard is the most magical man in the world. Apparently when we were not looking he reeled one in and put it aside. When us kids came back from playing, he pulled this live fish right out of the snow bank. Of course later on in life I learned about drilling holes and actually baiting a hook etc, but that day I swore he just pulled the darn thing right out of the ice..what a trick. The other memory about that day is no matter how many times my mom washed those blue mittens they still smelled like fish and every time I wore them I thought of my uncle Howard the magician.
May he rest in peace and my prayers are with you.

  26. I am so sorry for your loss. May your memories carry you through the tough times. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

  27. I am sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I worked with Holly Hawkinson and knew Lyle from 3M.

  28. Carl,Della,Lyle,Julie and families…I am so sorry to hear about Howard. My memories of him of course are at the bakery. We had so much fun down there. I remember giving him such a hard time about them awful Christmas cookies he always made, lol. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and you already know if you need something give me a call and I will be right there!Debbie and Tim
