Inez Holter

Inez Holter, 99, of Highmore, passed away, Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Avera Maryhouse in Pierre.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, May 19, 2015 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Highmore with Pastor Terry Knudson officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at the Platte Cemetery, Platte, SD. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday, May 18, 2015 with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service, all at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Highmore.
Inez was born June 25, 1915 on the family farm south of Platte, South Dakota to Edwin and Carrie (Stowe) Ells. She graduated from Platte High School and then attended N.Y.A. for three years in White Lake, South Dakota. She then went to work in Chamberlain at the Ford Garage.
On May 14, 1941 she was married to Lawrence Harley Holter. They moved to a farm southwest of Platte and lived there until 1962. In the spring of 1963 they moved to Holabird, SD where they had bought a ranch that they resided until the fall of 2001. They retired and moved into Highmore.
Throughout the years, Inez was involved in many organizations and groups. While living in Platte, she was active in the Chapelle Farmers Union, member of the Tabor Lutheran Church, and served as a Sunday School Teacher for 15 years. During her years in Highmore, she was active in the CPH extension club, election board, senior citizens center, Hyde Hi-Steppers Square Dance Club, and member of Our Savior Lutheran Church.
Her memory will be cherished by her four children: Glynda (Darrold) Hay of Sioux Falls, Larry Holter of Highmore, Edwin (Dorothy) Holter of Troy, MI, and Francis (Janice) Holter of Hastings, MN; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one brother, Wayne Ells of Webser; sisters-in-law: Marie Rose Ells of Platte and Adele Holter of Platte; and one brother-in-law, Ivan Holter of Platte.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 2006; and two brothers: Stowe and Herschel Ells.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Inez’s arrangements.

So sorry to hear about Inez. She was such a cool lady. She is with Harley now.
What a wonderful lady and neighbor Inez was to us when we lived on the farm south of them. I have many memories that make me smile when I think of her and Harley. Heaven is blessed by her smiling face. Hugs to you all in the loss of this special lady.
