I’ll also remember what a minister told me one day about those passing on, “You know Bob, life is kind of like a ship on the horizon, on this side we say “There she goes, and on the other side God and Heaven says here she comes”.
Love forever,
Bob Oakes
Irene was a great mother-in-law and full of fun. I’ll never forget the first time she came to Kansas City in the mid 80’s and I had my first experience of going grocery shopping with Irene.
P.S. I had many more that followed after this one that were pretty interesting as well.
In any case, we went to the store and soon I lost her because I was shopping and she was squeezing fruits and vegetables and convincing others to try them and see how fresh they thought they were. Like I said, we got separated and I finished shopping and went to the cash register. Well, when I got there she was talking to the owner of the Bob’s IGA stores in all of KC, now picture this, Irene is all of 5’2″ and Bob Lemon was at least 6’6″ tall and I overheard her tell him that she was lost. He asked where are you from lady and she said “Aberdeen, SD”. He said lady, you are really lost and about that time she spotted me and kindly said good-bye to Mr. Lemon.
Thanks Irene, for all of the memories and I look forward to sitting down with you again someday when we meet on the other side.
Love forever,
Bob Oakes
We were sorry to hear of your loss. God be with you. We were neighbors across the street from Vi and Larry in Mobridge. We knew Irene from her visits to Mobridge. Vi and I were very good friends here. I know it was hard on Irene when she lost Larry. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Most of you won’t remember who we were. My daughter, Brenda used to play with Debby when they visited Mobridge.
