My deepest condolences to the family and friends. May you find comfort by drawing close to God during this difficult time. James 4:18.
I was so saddened to see of Ivan’s passing, but I also was able to experience great happiness of the memories from my youth. Ivan was a bass player in my mom and dad’s band in Faith. I know I thoroughly enjoyed getting to attend the dances when Ivan and Cheto were playing: the things those two men could make a musical instrument do. I have not heard a walking bass rhythm like Ivan’s and I have not heard another bass player use the bass for rhythm, either! Ivan was a dear, dear man, and I am so thankful he was a part of my life growing up. Because of how he treated me, I have no doubts about how he was with other children, his own children, and his grandchildren. My life is richer for having had the times I had with Ivan. I let Mom know today, and we visited and shared stories. I send to his family lots of hugs, prayers, and love—you lived in the presence of a talented musician and one of the kindest men I ever knew. May God hold each of you in his loving arms. I know Ivan is playing in God’s great band, and it is glorious! God Bless. Lisa Inghram Anson
