Janet F. Keith Collins, “WaCante’ Waste Win”, 66, of Eagle Butte, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Cheyenne River Health Center, Eagle Butte.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. MDT, Friday, June 19, 2026, at CRST Bingo Hall, Eagle Butte. Burial will follow in the Eagle Butte Cemetery. Wake services will be 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 18, 2026, at the hall, with a procession from the 4-mile at 4:00 p.m.

Janet F. Collins was born at old Cheyenne Agency on September 6, 1959. She lived most of her life near the Cheyenne River.

She married Terry Collins Sr. on October 17, 1975, and five children were born to this union, Jessica Collins, Terry Collins Jr., Sydnee Brings Plenty, Alonzo Collins and Caitlin Collins.

Janet worked for the tribe for 20+ years with Indian Child Welfare and Family Violence Prevention. Janet loved spending time with her great grandchildren, reading her bible, riding her Harley and helping people.

Janet is survived by her sisters: Alta Hertel and family: Rhonda, Kelly, Jonni and Cody; Geri Kennedy and family: Dusty Kennedy, Theresa Kennedy; Sandiy Keith and family: Jodee Brewer, Melvin Miner, Clavin Miner, Mallory Miner; Sydney Claymore and family: Wohpe Claymore, Wanbli Gleska, Tukila Claymore and her daughter, Katrina Young; brother, Austin Keith and family: Meredith Keith, Lucy Keith; her children: Jessica Collins and family: Skylar Collins, Taylor Talks, Jimi Collins; Terry (Carly) Collins Jr. and family: Wicahpi Collins, Inyan Win Collins, Isaiah Collins; Sydnee (Karlyle Evan) Brings Plenty and family: Jasmine Louis; Caitlin and family: Peanut Collins; great grandchildren: Cheyann Holy, Joshua Talks, Addilee Montreal, Azahrya Collins, Takoda Peneaux, Taliyah Peneaux, Trent Peneaux Jr., Josiah Collins, Malcolm Collins, Deborah Collins, Kellan Louis.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sidney and Shirley Keith; son, Alonzo Collins; sister, Debbie Chapman; granddaughter, Terri Collins; great grandson, Lester Peneaux and Addison Montreal; nieces and nephews: Brandon Kennedy, Woope Claymore.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Janet’s arrangements.

  7. I’m sorry for your loss. I will never forget auntie for teaching me how to roller skate. She said you can’t cry or the skates won’t work…lol..I will miss her smile. She always gave me a hug n a big smile to go with it.
