Jean Krick, 81, of Miller, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2012 at the Good Samaritan Society of Miller.
By her request, private family graveside rites will be held.
Jean Louise was born on November 16, 1931 at home north of St. Lawrence, SD, to Casey and Ethel (Williams) Schultz. She attended school thru the eighth grade and later received her GED.
She married James C. Krick on May 25, 1947. To this union four children were born. Jim was employed as a ranch hand for Ted Jennings and they made their home south of Highmore for forty-seven years. They moved to Miller in 1995.
Jean was an excellent cook, cooking for all the extra hired men during the busy months. She always had a huge garden and canned many quarts of vegetables.
In 1967, she went to work in the office at Stephan Mission, she was employed there until it was turned back to the Tribe. In 1980 she started her career as an aide for the Miller School District, starting in the rural schools and eventually becoming the kindergarten aide in Miller until her retirement in 1999.
Jean’s kind and caring ways made her a wonderful mother to her children and it carried on over to her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandson and also to all the animals that ended up in her home. One time she kept thirteen three day old puppies alive by feeding them every three hours with an eye dropper. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Miller.
Grateful for sharing her life are her children and their families: Barb and Willie Hasart and their children, Vicki Hasart and Tim Hasart; Junior and Marilyn (Buchheim) Krick and their children Becky (Michael) Blume and Jason Krick; Terry Krick and Jenise Krick and her daughter, Jenny (Terry) Oakley; great grandchildren: Heather McBride (Colt Cain), Megan Carrillo, Sean Hasart, Jayna Blume, Cooper Oakley and Rockilynn Oakley; step great grandchildren: Grady Oakley and Cole Oakley; great-great grandson, Hunter Cain; and Jean’s siblings: Dorothy Dickert, Phyllis (Bruce) Groves, Casey (Luella) Schultz, Doris Schultz and Dale Schultz.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Jim in 2003.

Dear Family,
Losing a loved one can be devastating. However, please take comfort in knowing that death isn’t the end. We know this because Jehovah God has given us sound reasons for hope in the in the resurrection promise. Indeed, we have his word that the dead will rise to life again. According to Isaiah 55:11 and Luke 18:2, his purpose regarding those asleep in death is sure to be fulfilled. In fact, God has already shown his power to raise the dead when He resurrected His son and appointed King, Jesus Christ, who also gives us good reasons for believing that the dead will one day be resurrected to life with the prospect of living forever here on earth, which under Christ’s rule will be transformed into a paradise free of all the problems we deal with today. Faith in God’s provision for raising the dead by means of his Son, Jesus Christ, can sustain us in times of sorrow. Which is why I encourage you to read the following Bible accounts: (Mark 5: 35 to 43; Luke 8: 49 to 56; and John 11: 1 to 45) which will no doubt strengthen you faith in the resurrection promise and move you to take time to gain accurate knowledge of God and Jesus through a FREE Bible study with the Witnesses before the fulfillment of John 5: 28 and 29. To stress the importance of such study Jesus said in John 17 verse 3 “This means everlasting life…”
People nmorlaly pay me for this and you are giving it away!
