Jeffrey Lynn Hutchinson, 66, of Faulkton, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2026, after a hard-fought battle with cancer at his home.
A celebration of life will be 3:00 p.m., Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton.
Jeff was born on August 14th, 1959, to William and Beverly (Hagedorn) Hutchinson, the sixth of seven children. He grew up and attended school in Faulkton, “graduating” early to get a head start on life.
In his youth Jeff enjoyed hunting, fishing and fast cars. He was also an accomplished boxer, showing the toughness and grit that would guide him through his life.
Jeff married Denise Bryant on March 20, 1979, and together they had two children. Along with trying to keep up with the kids, Jeff always seemed to have a project or two going. He enjoyed building things and regardless of what it was, the project seemed to be completed as soon as he started planning it, with a new one already in the works.
Jeff lived a life defined by hard work and devotion to his family. Over the years he has had many jobs. He worked as an auto body mechanic, a Schwan’s salesman, long haul trucker for Hanson’s, was a caregiver for his mom, and worked for the Faulk County Highway Department.
In his later years, he settled into country living, gardening, planting flowers by the “thousands”, and hunting gophers with his trusted dog, Onyx. He found love again with Suzan Hoffman and they spent several years enjoying each other’s company.
Jeff is survived by his two children, daughter Alisha (Brian) King of Madison, son John (Jill) Hutchinson of Aberdeen; 10 grandchildren: Blake, Alexis, Chase, Lindsey, and Tucker King; Xavier Gorczewksi, Trey, Alyson, Teegan, and Tayven Hutchinson; great granddaughters, Ellanora and Ruth-Anne King; siblings: John (Deb) Hutchinson, Marv (Pam) Hutchinson, Jeanne Lesselyoung, Peg (Kevin Mutsch) Speck, and Lori Speck; special friend, Suzan Hoffman; stepsiblings: Dennis (Julie) Biedenfeld, Barb (Gene) Schaefers, Nancy (Warren) Schatz, and Janet Poeppel; along with many cherished nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beverly; stepfather, Don Biedenfeld; sister, Brenda Thares; half-brother, William Hutchinson; brothers-in-law, Barney Lesselyoung and Jim Speck; nephew, Travis Speck; and his dog Onyx.
His children would like to acknowledge and give a special THANK YOU to Jeanne, Peggy, and Suzan for all the time and extra care they provided to Jeff in his last months.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Jeff’s arrangements.

It has been said our mission here on earth is to help others and to make the world a better place for having been here.
I can say, without a doubt, Jeff fulfilled his mission.
I know this to be true because of what he has done for me; beginning over 50 years ago.
Jeff took me into his home and taught me about family as he shared his mother, Bev, with me. Beverly taught me the power of love and acceptance and kindness. Jeff shared his dad, Bill, with me, who taught me the value of hard work and responsibility. He shared his sisters, Brenda, Lori, Peg, and Jeanne with me and they taught me about family and sharing and humor. Jeff shared his brothers, Marv and John with me who taught me about duty and dependability and strength.
I know that Jeff has done the same for many others as I know many of the folks he has shared his life with. I can only imagine how many people whose lives are better for having known him.
I pray that he rests peacefully, knowing he has made a huge difference in this world.
Jon
