Jennifer L. De Sheuquette Netzer, 54, of Lead and formerly of Eagle Butte, passed away Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Belle Fourche Healthcare.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. MST, Friday, January 4, 2019 at the UCC Church, Cherry Creek, with Pastor Bruce Herrboldt presiding. A wake service was held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019 at the church, with a procession from the 2-mile east of town at 4:00 p.m.
Jennifer L. De Sheuquette was born July 5, 1964 to Gerald De Sheuquette and Elberta Brown Thunder in Eagle Butte, SD. Jenny was a happy, loving child. She was always known as a daddy’s girl, made friends easily and loved to visit elders. Jenny spoke fluent Lakota which was taught to her by her loving grandparents, Raymond and Mae (One Skunk) Brown Thunder. One thing she really liked to do was give nick names, even as she became an adult. Jenny attended school in Cherry Creek and Eagle Butte. From there she went to Clearfield Utah Job Corps and Weber Basin where she received her diploma.
Jenny worked as an admissions clerk while at Weber Basin. While in Utah she met Pete Solis, and in 1987, they had one daughter, Amethyst. Jenny and Amethyst moved to Rapid City. Jenny started working for Doctor Ness at Sioux San as a receptionist. Later she moved to the Belle Fourche/Spearfish area. She and Elberta would travel back and forth to Eagle Butte for visits until she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016. Jenny remained close to Rapid City Cancer Care for treatments, living in Lead with her daughter, Amethyst. Jenny entered the Belle Fourche Healthcare Community for comfort care only two weeks prior to passing into God’s hands.
Jenny did not lay around sick and helpless, she fought to the end. She still was able to get up in her wheelchair and go out to the lobby to visit and laugh with the others. She was in tremendous pain every day, so with heavy hearts we are thankfully at peace now. Although she will be greatly missed, it is bittersweet.
Jenny is survived by her daughter, Amethyst Netzer; grandchildren: Sulaiah, Amira, Leilana, Aurelian, Guiden, and Cyprian all of Lead; mother, Elberta (Brown Thunder) Danley of Eagle Butte; siblings: Milo and Cindy De Sheuquette of Fruitland, NM, Heather Lynn Netzer of Rapid City, Suzanne and Joe Francis of Youngsville, LA and Anitra Netzer of Eagle Butte; grandparents: Raymond and May Brown Thunder, Jasper De Sheuquette and Mae McBride; uncles: Kenneth, Reginald De Sheuquette, Milo, Joshua, Patrick and Victor Brown Thunder; aunts: Virginia Picolie, Thelma, Alva, Melda, Flora, Genevieve, Virginia, and Myrtle Brown Thunder; nieces and nephews: Airiel, Layla, Gerard, Leiloni, Kaitlynn, Alonzo, Joshua, Dominick, Desmond, Terrance, Alexander, Daniel, Emanuel, Melody, David, Hunter, Kimimila, Wakiyan, and Wamblee; and a special friend, Oscar Mirenda.
