John Gerlach

John Gerlach, 80, of St. Lawrence, SD, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 at the Avera Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.

Graveside services were held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 15, 2011 at Hillcrest Cemetery, Miller with Pastor John Rasko officiating. 

John Joseph was born March 27, 1931 to William and Zettie (Clendenin) Gerlach in Redfield, South Dakota.  He graduated from Miller High School.  Throughout his life he lived in Colorado, Minnesota and South Dakota.  He worked in the agriculture field.  Some of John’s hobbies included riding horses and collecting antiques.  John was known as a hard worker, very loyal, and a good friend and father.

He is survived by his children: Duncan Gerlach, Terri Gerlach, David Gerlach, Mark Gerlach and Matthew Gerlach; step-daughter, Becky A. Wing; grandchildren: Titania C. Avery and John J. Gerlach; and great grandchildren: Kristen Avery, Faith Avery, Jeffery Gerlach and Tabatha Gerlach.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brothers and sisters.
