Ken was born to Chester and Marie (Blasius) Pazour on October 12, 1962 in Mitchell, SD. He grew up on the family farm near Pukwana, SD and is the eighth of eleven children. His younger life was spent feeding cattle and hogs; hunting, trapping and of course, numerous pranks with his brothers and friends. His brother, Rick, would say that Ken’s main goal in life was to get him in trouble!
He attended Smith Country School through the eighth grade and then graduated from Kimball High School in 1980. After graduation from high school, he farmed with his dad and brothers until 1986 when he married Diane Froning. Their travels took them to Loomis and Brookings, SD, then farming near Polo, SD before moving to Friend, NE. Owning a farm and raising cattle were Ken’s dreams. Ken and Diane purchased a farm in Lake Park, IA. While in Iowa, they became close friends with Brad and Francel Graham who continue to rent and manage the Pazour land. In February 1999, their travels took them to Highmore where Ken worked for Hoffman Honey Company. At the time of his death, Ken had been employed as the Hyde County Weed Supervisor for eight years. Everyone who knew him understood his love of woodworking. He was everyone’s “Mr. Fix-it”!
Ken was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
Ken and Diane were blessed with twenty five years of marriage and two beautiful children; Caleb Leo, age 14; and Maria Elizabeth, age 10. He is also survived by his mother, Marie, of Pukwana and 10 siblings: Karen (Louie) Doom, Renner, SD, Michael (Kathy) Pazour, Pukwana, SD, Susan (Raymond) Bickner, Kimball, SD; David (Deborah) Pazour, Kimball, SD, Jean (Brad) Thomas, Lyons, SD, Mary (Clint) Brainard, Kimball, SD, Joseph (Reta) Pazour, Pukwana, SD, Julie (Scott) Tuschen, Alexandria, SD, Richard (Lisa) Pazour, Pukwana, SD, and Patricia (Dan) Konechne, Belle Fourche, SD; 30 nieces and nephews, as well as 32 great nieces and nephews.
Ken’s extended family includes: Leo and Lucy Froning, Polo, SD; Dan (Mary) Froning, Mitchell, SD, Doe (Denny) Volek, Highmore, SD, Chuck (Ellen) Froning, Valentine, NE, Debb (Morris) Hoffman, Highmore, SD, Mark (Diana) Froning, Brookings, SD, Doreen (Daryl) Volek, Miller, SD, Donna (Steve) Kubik, Hamill, SD, Denise (Mark) Winter, Hamill, SD; as well as 19 nieces and nephews; 8 great nieces and nephews; and 2 expected in February.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester in 2008; brother-in-law, Allen Houser; a niece, Jenny Bickner; a nephew, Raymond Froning; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Ken’s arrangements.

Caleb, I am so sorry to hear about your Dad. your dad was a very cheery person, especialy when he would come out to the farm and spray. When we were little and come to your place and play with the pups, he was always so good to us. I pray for you and your family. May God wrap his arms around you..
Sorry to hear about Ken, I got to know Ken at some of our past Weed & Pest meetings and always had interesting conversations with him, Remember one with him back when he was making a bed for his daughter if I remember correctly and the problems he was having finding the good wood he wanted, again so sorry for your loss!!
The Pazour Family has lost a wonderful husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Words cannot express my deep sorrow for you. May God bless you and hold you in the palm of His hand now and forever.
We are shocked and saddened to hear about Ken. Always so friendly. And he was such a good dad, impressing me when he’d stop by the nursing home with the kigs. Caleb and Maria will be his legacy. Kids-honor that every day in what you do and how you live the rest of your lives. Make him proud as he watches down over all of you. Diane-I don’t know what to say. Be strong & trust in God.
