Larry Earring

Larry Earring, 54, of Eagle Butte, entered the spirit world Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Rapid City Regional Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 3, 2012 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte with Mother Margaret Wattson and Pastor LeRoy Bobtail Bear officiating. Burial followed at Ascension Cemetery in Blackfoot. An all night wake began at 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2012 at the church in Eagle Butte.
Larry Charles “Eyeball” Earring was born April 4, 1957 to Delphia Swimmer and Grover Earring at Old Agency, SD. Larry lived most of his life in Eagle Butte up to the time of his death.
He attended Elementary and Junior High school in Eagle Butte. He then went to school in Rapid City where he lived with his aunt, Elma Swimmer, for a while. He returned to Eagle Butte graduating from Cheyenne Eagle Butte High School. Larry loved to play basketball, playing for the Rapid City Central Gobblers and the Cheyenne Eagle Butte Braves, going to state with the Braves in 1975 and taking 5th place. It was a very happy and proud time for him. He continued with school at Watertown Vo-Tech where he took up trucking. He then came home, working numerous jobs and living in various places.
Larry was a very vivid and lively person. He always got along with all people. You never saw him without a smile on his face. He was always happy and greeted people with a happy hello and handshake. Larry will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Larry is survived by his children: Lawrence Earring of Pine Ridge, Chad and Brent LeBeau of Sioux Falls, Chardel Earring of Aberdeen, Darshann, Jordan and Randon Earring of Dupree; five grandchildren: Emily, Lauren and Wakinyan of Eagle Butte, Kerranda LeBeau of Sioux Falls, Ariella Earring of Dupree; one brother, Orlin Swimmer of Morenci, MI; two sisters: Madonna Swimmer of Morenci, MI and Lois Mae Swimmer of Kansas City, MO; one half sister, Beverly Earring of White Horse; cousin, Timothy Swimmer, Jr. of Timber Lake; and a very special friend, a hunka brother, who stood by Larry through his ups and downs and shared his life with him as a brother, Terry Collins, Sr. of Eagle Butte.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Grover Earring and Delphia Swimmer; and grandparents, Louise White Body Swimmer and Joshua Swimmer.
Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Larry’s arrangements.

My sincere condolences to the family of Larry C. Earring. I remember him well. He was a humble man and a friend of my brother. He never failed to greet me and say “I miss my bro, Monty”. Prayers for his journey. Prayers for his family & friends. From Mabel Granados & Family.
Larry was my friend at Southwestern Indian Polytechnic institute (SIPI) we were in the Engineering classes together, my condolances go out to the family, I also played at FIS in 1975
