Leland Fischer, 79, of Miller, died Monday, December 10, 2007 at the Hand County Memorial Hospital in Miller.
Funeral services were held at 2:30p.m., Thursday, December 13, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Miller with Rev. Bob Ohnstad officiating. Burial was in Rosehill Cemetery, Wessington. Visitation was held from 3:00-7:00p.m., Wednesday, December 12 with the family present from 6:00-7:00p.m. at Reck Funeral Home in Miller.
Leland was born March 28, 1928 to Charles and Caroline (Muehleisen) Fischer in Wessington. He attended rural country school and graduated from Wessington High School in 1946. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1953. He farmed in rural Wessington his entire life.
On January 28, 1982, he married Donna Foust in Hill City. In 1986, they moved to Miller.
Leland was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed reading, visiting with people and spending time on the farm.
His memory will be cherished by his wife, Donna of Miller; two step-sons: Steve (Annette) Foust of Greeley, CO and Neil (Terry) Foust of Rapid City; two step-granddaughters, Miranda and Alyson; three brothers: Cecil (Hope) Fischer of Pendleton, OR, Charles “Jack” (Lillian) Fischer of Corvallis, OR, and Calvin Fischer of Wessington; sister-in-law, Verla Fischer of Huron; step daughter-in-law: Kathy of Alaska; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ancel; sister, Helen Grinnell-Johnson; sister-in-law, Lillian Fischer; and step son, Daniel Foust.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with his arrangements.

Oh, Donna what can we say. Leland was our knight in shining armor and we are really going to miss him. I sure he and dad have started their game of dominos and are probably arguing about what the best thing they ever had to eat! Please take care of yourself.
