Lenore Danburg was born on a farm southeast of Miller on May 24, 1916, to Eugene and Norma (Shonbrun) Danburg. She attended Corrin School south of Miller. Lenore married George Ufen, Jr., on August 10, 1931, which began 49 years of marriage. To this union, three children were born and raised on their farm south of Miller.
Lenore was a woman of faith, attending Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in choir and women’s groups. In later years, she enjoyed Pleasant Valley Church’s weekly Bible Studies.
Surviving the depression, droughts, and storms proved Lenore to be a woman of courage. Besides being busy as a farm wife, Lenore began working outside the home in 1950. She was proud to purchase her own business, the A&W Drive In, which she owned for 15 years.
In 1969, after George retired, they moved to Miller. Lenore always took time to remember her family and extended family on special occasions such as birthdays and anniversaries. She was famous for her made-from-scratch angel food cakes. Family and faith were the most important things in her life.
Grateful for sharing Lenore’s life are her two sons, Jack (Ramona) and Robert (Mardell-deceased) of Miller, and daughter Patricia (Stan) Hansen of Rapid City; eight grandchildren, Brian (Pamela) Ufen of Pleasant View, TN; Bradley (Ashley) Ufen of Miller; Karla (Paul) Fischenich of Dodge Center, MN; Claudine (Nick) Carr of Gilbert, AZ; Jennifer (Bruce) Jones of Sioux Falls; Renae (Harold) Hastings of Colton, SD; Chanley (Missie) Hansen of Hockessin, DE, and Ryan (Holly) Hansen of Sioux Falls; fifteen great grandchildren; one sister, Derla (Dave) Simons of St. Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Ufen; parents, Eugene and Norma Danburg; two brothers, Raymond and LeRoy Danburg; two sisters, Dorothy Freimark and Phyllis Losey; one daughter-in-law, Mardell Ufen, and one granddaughter, Kea Ufen Dearing.
Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Lenore’s arrangements.

"For every life has a purpose to fill, a purpose which us humans can seldom infer. But she was a gift from heaven, whose purpose was to make this world understand what love, friendship, goodness, and humbleness was all about. Goodness belongs to heaven, and I know she is watching you from there, bestowing her beautiful smile upon you. May her soul rest in peace."
