Leo Landeis

Leo Landeis, 89, of Faulkton formerly of Mandan, ND died Friday, November 15, 2013 at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 19, at Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, N.D. with Fr. Shane Campbell officiating. Burial followed in the N.D. Veteran Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 7:00 p.m., Monday, November 18, 2013Â with a 7:00 p.m. wake service, all at the church.
 Leo Landeis was born February 6, 1924 at Selfridge, ND to Peter and Perpetua (Siegel) Landeis. He attended school in the Selfridge area. Following his education Leo helped on the family farm until enlisting in the United States Navy.
On November 12, 1946 he was united in marriage to Hildegard Leingang at St. Anthony, ND. They made their home East of Selfridge, ND before moving to Walker, SD where Leo farmed. In the mid 1950’s they moved to Mandan, ND where Leo worked for Cass Clay Dairy. He worked in trucking, which he did until his retirement in 1986. In 2012 Leo and Hildegard moved to Faulkton to be with their daughter Sharon.
Leo enjoyed spending his free time tinkering, fishing or gardening. He shared his produce with friends and also sold much of it at farmer markets. Leo was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Mandan American Legion.
His life will be cherished by his wife, Hildegard of Faulkton; his daughter, Sharon Holmes of Faulkton; four grandchildren: Jason and Justin Landeis and Bradley and Brian Peterman; one sister, Maudie Dillman of Jamestown, ND and one daughter in-law, Denise Landeis of Mandan, ND.
Leo was preceded in death by his parents; one son David; and three siblings: Monica Davis, Peter Landeis and Isabel Kraft.
Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Leo’s arrangements.




Dear Aunt Hildegard and Family,
Uncle Leo always had a special smile and a sparkle in his eye and a great story to share.
We wish we were able to be there to celebrate Uncle Leo’s special life with you. We will be with in thought and prayer!!
