Leonard Azure, Sr., 55, of Fort Thompson, passed away Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at the Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls.
Funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Christ Episcopal Church in Fort Thompson. Burial followed at All Saints Cemetery, Fort Thompson. A wake service began at 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at the church.
Leonard Boyd Azure was born April 22, 1960 at Chamberlain, South Dakota to Ernestine (Middletent) and Lee Azure. He spent his life in Fort Thompson, attending elementary school at Fort Thompson and later graduating from Crow Creek High School in 1978.
He loved playing sports, including basketball and softball and spending time with family and friends. He was a very outgoing and friendly person.
Leonard married Tammy Wind and together they had two sons and two daughters; joining Leonard’s two older daughters.
He is survived by his three sons: Patrick Azure, and twins, Leonard, Jr. and Lenaire “Sweetie” Azure; three daughters: Debonair Azure, Nicki Azure, and Lafae Wind; one granddaughter; three brothers: Bruce, Darrell (Coco), and Daniel (Micky) Azure; one sister, Charlene Azure; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; two sisters; three uncles; two aunts; and four cousins.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Leonard’s arrangements.
