Leonard K. Bagola, 54, of Eagle Butte, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 in Eagle Butte.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., MST, Monday, January 9, 2017 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte with Mother Mikayla Dunfee presiding. Burial followed at St. James’s Episcopal Cemetery, Bear Creek. An all-night wake began at 7:00p.m., Sunday, January 8, 2017 at the church, with a procession from the 4-mile at 4:00p.m.

Leonard Kevin Bagola was born January 14, 1961 to Nathan and Caroline (Eye) Bagola at Eagle Butte. Leonard spent his childhood in Bear Creek and attended Cheyenne Eagle Butte Schools. He received his GED and went on to attend United Sioux Tribes where he obtained a degree in carpentry.

Leonard began working at CRST Property and Supply. During his lifetime, he made many friends because of his friendliness and generosity. In his last two years of life, Lenny fought and survived cancer. He never once complained about his chemotherapy treatment.

Leonard Kevin will be great missed by his brothers and sisters as well as his extended family of cousins, nephews, nieces and grandchildren. His siblings include: Darlene, Deloris, Nadine, and Dale (Arliss) Bagola; aunts: Grace Larrabee, Hilda (Hap) Marshall, Eva Jost, Laura Bagola, Hazel Brings Horses, Carlin Brings Horse, Jim Brings Horse, Mona Brings Horse, Eleanor Dupree and Ruby Schied.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Nathan and Caroline Bagola; brother, James Bagola; nephew, Justin Cook; niece, Cherie Agneaux; uncle, Melvin Bagola Sr.; and aunties: Guyla Jandreau and Esterlene Low Dog.

Luce Funeral Chapel of Eagle Butte has been entrusted with Leonard’s arrangements.

A Wake was held on January 8, 2017 at 7:00 PM at St. John's Episcopal Church, Main Street in Eagle Butte, SD 57625
