Linda Mae Carter, 59, of Medicine Lodge, KS, formerly of Onida, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Southwinds Hospice House in Pratt, KS.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 10, 2014 at Luce Funeral Home, Gettysburg with Pastor Jeff Adel presiding. Burial will follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Linda Mae Carter was born June 27, 1955 to Clifford and Darlene (Tennant) Carter in Gettysburg. She attended and graduated from Onida High School in 1974. Linda then worked for 10 years at the State of South Dakota.

In 1984 she moved to Medicine Lodge, KS and went to work for Hilltop Manor for 18 years. After that she worked at Parkwood in Pratt, KS for three years. Linda loved taking care of the elderly.

Linda was a huge NASCAR fan. Her favorite driver was Dale Jr and she never missed a race. Linda also enjoyed cleaning and painting in her spare time.

Those left to cherish her life are her companion, Kenny Laverentz, Medicine Lodge, KS; her parents: Clifford and Darlene Carter, Onida; stepdaughter, Jennifer (Jason) Taylor, Warrenburg, MO; step grandchildren: Madison, Kaitlyn, Alexandria and Elizabeth; her brother, Jim (Jo) Carter, Onida; sisters: Carol (Errol) Peterson, Pierre, Wanda (Ed) Hauser, Onida, Mary (Jim) Hauser, Nashville, KS and Kimberly (Steve) Christ, Onida; many nieces and nephews and two special friends: Zonia Pogue, Cunningham, KS and Melody Erickson Bretsch, Aberdeen.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents: Artie and Minnie Carter and Jack and Mildred Tennant.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Linda’s arrangements.

    I met Linda when she worked in driver licensing. In the early 80s we made a trip to Hawaii—a fun time!! Keep your memories close–she was a caring friend.
