Linda Snyder, 70, of Miller, passed away Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.

Memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2013 at the St. Lawrence Community Church with Pastor Scot Tutt officiating. Inurnment will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery at a later date.

Linda Mae was born on May 16, 1942 to Charles “Tom” and Marie (Horn) Snyder in Miller, South Dakota.  The family lived north of St. Lawrence until 1954 when they moved into St. Lawrence.  She attended St. Lawrence School.  Linda was her mother’s caretaker for most of her life.  Linda loved small children and was the town babysitter for many years.

When her health failed in 2004, she moved to Good Samaritan in Miller and in December of 2012, she moved to the Golden Living Center in Salem.

Linda is survived by her daughter: JoEllen (Ted) Schlechter of Huron, SD; one sister: Betty (Gene) Sprecher of Wolsey, SD; two brothers: Thomas (Janet) Snyder of Rapid City, SD and James (Jane) Snyder of Miller, SD; four grandchildren: Jarad, Matthew, Brady, and Mallory; three great grandchildren: Mason, Lilly, and Gavin; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and two nieces.


Reck Funeral Home of Miller has been entrusted with Linda’s arrangements.

  1. I’m sorry to hear of Linda’s passing. I have fond memories of Aunt Marie’s house in St. Lawrence. I remember Linda’s smile and sense of humor. I’m sorry I won’t be able to attend her memorial. My thoughts are with family.
