Loren “Rocky” Fallis, Sr. (Sunka Wakan Hota Agli) "Brings A Grey Horse", age 62, of Big Bend, entered the spirit world on Monday, December 28, 2015 at his home.

Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 1, 2016 at the Crow Creek School Gym in Stephan. Burial followed at the Fallis Family Cemetery, rural Harrold. Two-night wake services began at 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 30th and Thursday, December 31st at the Crow Creek School Gym in Stephan.

Loren "Rocky" Fallis was born on December 28, 1953 in Pierre SD, the son of Vilas Sr. and Hildegarde (Mulhern) Fallis. He spent most of his childhood years in Big Bend, SD. Rocky attended school at Stephan Mission and graduated in 1971. He went on to College at Black Hills State in Spearfish, SD. He worked for the Crow Creek Tribe until he met Jeannie and moved to Mission, SD. He became employed with Leneaugh/Waln construction company. He also worked for the Rosebud Sioux Tribe as a Security Officer for several years.

Rocky and Jeannie had seven children; Jeri, Kirsteena, Shannon (Josh), Bud (Emma), Loren Jr., Corrine and Jamie. As time went on their family grew and they were Blessed with their sons; Wayne Big Eagle, Tony Gonzales, Scott Raue and daughter Shavonne Stepp. Rocky and Jeannie were also fortunate enough to share in the upbringing of several other children. Rocky returned home to the Big Bend community and was elected as the Big Bend Tribal Council member where he served his people for over 20 years. He enjoyed ranching, farming, hunting, fishing, softball and Chieftain basketball, volleyball, football and Hawkeye softball. Throughout the years Rocky followed the pow wow life where he made many friends and relatives.

Grateful for sharing his life is his wife, Jeannie; children: Jeri, Shannon (Josh), Bud (Emma), Loren Jr., Corrine, Jamie, Wayne Big Eagle, Tony Gonzales, Scott Raue, and Shavonne Stepp; brother, Vilas Fallis, Jr.; sisters, April and Louella Fallis; several cousins, nieces, nephews; over 30 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his father, Vilas Fallis Sr.; mother, Hildegarde (Mulhern) Fallis; two sisters; two brothers, Barry and Grover Fallis; and his daughter Kirsteena.

Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Rocky’s arrangements.
