Louella got her GED and went on to work in Denver, CO as a childcare provider. She moved back to Thunder Butte and worked for the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe. She retired in 1980.
She married Christopher Brave Heart, Sr. in March of 1989. They lived in Thunder Butte, SD for many years, and then they moved to the Eagle Butte Manor. During their time in Thunder Butte, Marie helped care for her grandchildren. She also loved to play bingo and listen to gospel and country music. As a young girl, she had played the organ. She always attended all of her grandchildren’s school and extracurricular activities. She liked to travel, cut diamonds for star quilts, attend powwow's, visit with friends and family, and she loved to garden with her husband, Chris, in Thunder Butte. My sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Louella. The loss of our dear loved ones can be very difficult and distressing to cope with. It has helped myself and others when we remember that they now safely rest in the loving memory of our Grand Creator, waiting for the fulfillment of His promised purpose. Also, may your own good and loving memories of Louella help to soothe your hearts. Sincerely ( Revelation 21 : 3-5; Acts 24 : 15; Psalms 37 : 11, 34 )
I loved my grandma so much. I’m glad she is not suffering anymore but I’m so mad that her cancer took her from us. My heart broke and a piece fell when she left us. I’m so grateful to have had such a wonderful, loving, kind, caring, and smart woman as my grandma. I’ll always do my best to make her proud. ♡ You will always be in my heart. I think of you always and I miss you so much. Give my baby brother and Grandma Elsie a hug and kiss. Love, Erika
