Louis Eugene Donlin, 90, died peacefully on February 21, 2014, at Oak Park Senior Living in Stillwater, Minnesota. Family visitation will be held on Friday evening February 28th from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, with a prayer service at 7:00 pm. all at St. Ann?s Catholic Church in Miller, South Dakota. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Ann?s Catholic Church on Saturday March 1st at 10:30 AM. Friends and family may sign Louie?s online register at www.remboldfuneralhome.com.

Louie was the ninth child born to Mathilda (Schaefer) and Eugene Donlin on September 10, 1923, near Lake Louise.

After graduating from Miller High School in 1941, he moved to Detroit, Michigan. Louie enlisted in the Army in 1943 and served in the European Theater. After the war, Louie returned to Miller. He married Beverly Fulton in 1953. They spent 41 happy years together and raised seven children in Miller.

Louie farmed with his brother Al and then started a grain-bin moving business that evolved into Donlin Building, Inc. Louie managed the business for over 30 years and employed a colorful cast of Butler Agribuilders over the years.

Louie was a long-time member of Alcoholics Anonymous and helped many people along the way. He will be dearly missed. He was a generous man with a wonderful sense of humor who loved to laugh. He enjoyed hearing and retelling stories of his brothers? antics from their childhood. His children and many of his grandchildren will remember the many humorous expressions he used.

Louie is survived by seven children: Mike (Nanette) Donlin and Kathy (Neil, deceased) Harvey of Miller; Mary Donlin and Curt Routhe of Shoreview, Minnesota; Carolyn Donlin and Dan Jensen of San Jose, California; Lisa and Mike Maw of Roseville, Minnesota; Maureen Donlin and John Tavis of Kirkwood, Missouri; and Pegeen Donlin and Keith Rapp of Woodbury, Minnesota. Louie is survived by 12 grandchildren: Erin and Kevin Donlin; Sean, Ryan, and Darin Harvey; Brenna and Michael Jensen; Aileen Maw; Steven and William Tavis; and Ian and Sophie Rapp. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren?Tomas Cuny, Matthew and Andrew Tenwinkel, and Derrick and Nadine Donlin?as well as one sister, Mary Hafner, of Washington, DC; three brothers-in-law, Bob (Edie) Schroeder, Charles Fulton, and Tex Fulton; four sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Bert) Donlin, Bette (Paul) Donlin, Marge (Chuck) Donlin, and Annie (Tex) Fulton; and numerous nieces and nephews with whom he always enjoyed visiting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Beverly (Fulton) Donlin, 11 siblings: Bert Donlin, Claire Sweeney, Al Donlin, Joe Donlin, Betty Queen, Vera Donlin, Irene Esper, Paul Donlin, Edie Schroeder, Mike Donlin, and Chuck Donlin, and one son-in-law, Neil Harvey.

    Built grain bins for Louis about 15 years. Louis was a great person to work for and I really enjoyed our conversations over the years. He was quite the guy and will be missed!

  5. I only met Louis once. Chuck & I came for a wedding. He was so kind. I know from talking to his children through facebook that he was a good man as he raised kind and good children. He will be missed by family and friends. God grant all peace and comfort until we meet again. Debbie & Chuck and family.

  6. I will always remember our fun summer visits to the Donlin home. Tons of kids doing fun things and Uncle Louie right in the midst of it. My prayers to his family.
