Lucille Thares, 88, of Faulkton, passed away, Sunday, September 21, 2014 at the Faulkton Healthcare Center.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, September 24, 2014 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Faulkton with Father John Helmueller officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. A wake service was held at 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 23, 2014 with visitation one hour prior, all at the church.
Lucille Mary Bauhs was born on January 28, 1926 on a farm near Faulkton, to Mike and Florence (Montgomery) Bauhs. She graduated from Faulkton High School.
On June 22, 1949 Lucille married Walter Thares at the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Faulkton. To this union two children were born: Larry Thares and Gary Thares.
Lucille was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church as well as the Altar Society. She also belonged to the VFW and the Legion Auxiliary. Lucille loved to bowl. She enjoyed being around her grandchildren and cheering on the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings.
Lucille had many jobs throughout the years. She first worked as a waitress at the L&W Café, then she worked as a clerk at Cameron’s Super Value. She went on to spend 28 years working at Dale’s Pharmacy, and didn’t stop working at Rexall Drug until she was 81 years old.
Lucille is survived by her two sons: Larry (Michelle) Thares of Faulkton and Gary Thares of Bristol; grandchildren: Liza Thares (Kyle Wahlen), Dancy (Trey) Maxwell, Jessica Howard, Rebecca Thares, and Stacey Thares; three great grandchildren; sister, Maxine Waddington of Redfield; brother, Gordon Bauhs of Colorado; and sister-in-law, Betty Bauhs of College Station, TX.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Thares; brothers: Raymond and Derald Bauhs; and daughters-in-law: Brenda and Ardie Thares.
Thank you to the Faulkton Area Medical Center and the Faulkton Healthcare Center for the care and compassion that you gave to both Lucille and Walter in their final days.
