Madonna Mae Bear Stops was born on August 13, 1979 in Pocatello, Idaho, to Aurelia Swan-Bear Stops and the late Gillis Bear Stops Sr. Madonna was the fifth child born in the family. She had four older siblings and twin siblings that were born after her. Madonna lived in Sanquin, Utah, where she attended kindergarten, first and second grades. Third grade was attended in Payson, Utah; fourth grade at Spry Elementary School, Chicago, Illinois; seventh through ninth grade at Orozco Community Academy, Chicago; and 10th and 11th grades she attended an alternate school. Madonna continued her schooling at Oglala College in Eagle Butte, SD, with plans of finishing her degree.

In 1995 Madonna married Juan Barragan Sr., and from this union five children were born: Juan Jr., Jacob, Delilah, and two children that are deceased, Angel and Joel. They made their home in Chicago and the suburbs of Chicago.

Madonna worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime. She was a cashier at Al’s Beef and manager of a hotel. Madonna also worked at Indian Child Welfare in the office and also at the shelter. Her first husband wished for her to be a stay at home mother, but as ambitious as she was, she always did her own thing.

Along with her first husband, Madonna became interested in going to car shows and races. Madonna’s husband worked in an auto shop, and he had even built a mustang. She would always have the latest rides, and they both loved speed. Once she became more independent, and she didn't need her husband's help, Madonna got her own car - a silver impala.

Madonna is survived by her children: Juan Jr., Jacob, and Delilah; mother, Aurelia Swan Cisneros; and siblings: Angeli Chavez-Bear Stops, Gillis Bear Stops Jr., Lucy and Lumanuel Two Two.

Madonna was preceded in death by her father; two children, Angel and Joel; siblings, Alwin Swan and Aleta Bear Stops; grandparents: Gillis Bear Stops Sr., Pete and Margaret Lone Eagle-Bear Stops, and Angeline and Manuel Swan; great grandparents: Lucy Swan, Silas Swan, and James Swan; uncle, James Swan; cousins: Alicia Straight Head, Shurrawn Good Eagle, and CherRon Sitting Crow; maternal grandmas: Rose Dupris, Bernice Light Field, and Pearl Hollow Horn; maternal grandpas: Andrew Condon, Pat Condon, Chet Condon, Willis Condon, Kermit Swan, Erskine Swan, and Orby Swan.
