Margaret Jean “Peggy” Stanley, 74, of Cresbard, passed away Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Avera St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen.

Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 18, 2011 at Luce Funeral Home, Faulkton with Fr. George Parmeter officiating. Burial of her cremains will be at a later date in the Northville Cemetery. Visitation was held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the funeral home.

Peggy was born September 2, 1937 to Andrew and Beryl (Brodrick) McBride in Williston, ND.  She graduated from Williston High School in 1955.  Peggy went on to college at NDSU in Fargo, ND and received her bachelor’s degree in Home Economics in 1959.  She taught in Killdeer, ND for two years before taking a job in Cresbard where she continued to teach until 1966.  She was a substitute teacher in the late 70’s and early 80’s.  She taught one more year in Hitchcock, SD in 1982.

Peggy was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.  She enjoyed traveling, spending time with her family and friends, canning, gardening, sewing and knitting.

Peggy married Harley Stanley on December 28, 1963 in Williston, ND.  They raised two children.

Peggy is survived by her husband Harley Stanley of Cresbard, SD; daughter Kay (Willy) Kingenberg of George, IA; son Mike (Dee) Stanley of Luverne MN; three grandchildren: Meghann, Alex, and Bryan, all of Luverne MN; one brother, Ray (Kathy) McBride of Mukwanago, WI; one sister Julie McBride of Bismarck, ND; two nieces, one great niece, one great nephew, seven cousins and a very special friend Vija Hamilton.

She was preceded in death by her parents, mother and father in law, Harland and Emma Stanley, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

Luce Funeral Home of Faulkton has been entrusted with Margaret’s arrangements.
