Marge Schuette

Marjorie Schuette, 94, of Highmore, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Highmore Health, Highmore, SD.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Highmore Cemetery with Pastor David Peterson officiating.
Julia Marjorie was born August 19, 1918 in Hyde County to Elmer and Vivian (Stoner) Stingley. She attended school in Bramhall Township and later Highmore High School. She married Alonzo Hurd in November of 1935; to this union two children were born, George on August 7, 1936 and Catherine on January 4, 1940. For thirty-nine years, Lon and Marge owned and operated Hurd Funeral Home in Highmore. Lon passed away in 1969 and Marge continued to operate the funeral home until 1975 when it was sold to Mike and Delores Luze. On December 10, 1974, Marge married William “Bill” Schuette and together they made their home on the ranch north of Highmore. They eventually moved into Highmore and together in June of 2000 entered the Highmore Healthcare Center. Bill passed away in 2004.
Marge was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, Eastern Star and the South Dakota Funeral Directors Association. She was a lifelong resident of Hyde County.
Marge is survived by her two children: George (Sharon) Hurd of Nampa, ID and Catherine (Lance) Lambert of Pierre; eight grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Jeanne Hill of Highmore; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Lon Hurd and Bill Schuette; one brother, John Stingley; one sister, Elizabeth Welch; a son-in-law, Jess Salathe; and one nephew.
Luze Funeral Home of Highmore has been entrusted with Marge's arrangements.
