Marilyn Bieber

Marilyn Bieber, age 69, of Gettysburg, passed away Monday, November 17, 2008 at the Gettysburg Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 20, 2008 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gettysburg with Rev. Mark Moldenhauer officiating. Burial was in the Gettysburg Cemetery. Visitation was held from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at the Luce Funeral Home in Gettysburg with a 7:00 p.m. prayer service at the church.
Marilyn Smith was born April 27, 1939 at Sturgis, South Dakota to H.V. “Buck” & Lura Mae (Pratt) Smith. She graduated from Kennebec High School in 1957 and went on to receive her teaching certificate from Northern Teacher’s College in Aberdeen. On December 31, 1958 she was united in marriage to Jerry Bieber at Gettysburg. She made their home in Sully County for one year prior to moving to a farm southeast of Gettysburg where they resided for the remainder of her life. Marilyn spent one year teaching in Sully County while living there. She then went to work for the ASC office in Gettysburg. Following her employment there she returned to teaching in the Copp School and Agar School System. Upon the closing of the Agar School System, Marilyn went to work for Nelson Farms.
Marilyn spent her life involved in many activities. She dearly enjoyed gardening, taking care of her yard, golfing, reading and playing solitaire. Sewing was a huge part of her life as she spent countless hours making special things for her children and grandchildren.
Marilyn was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Gettysburg where she was active in the choir and ladies aide.
Her life will be cherished by her spouse, Jerry Bieber of Gettysburg; children: Jodie (Shannon) of Pierre, Lisa (Stewart) Nelson of Warner, Linda (Terry) Weber of Vermillion and Derrick of Sioux Falls; seven grandchildren: Jordan Bieber of Chicago, Taylor and Payton Gall of Pierre, Paul & Connor of Warner, and Travis & Taylor of Vermillion; two sisters: Marla Gerber and Sandy (Dale) Nauman of Gettysburg; one brother-in-law: Orville Schmidt of Gettysburg and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Marcine Schmidt.
Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Marilyn's arrangements.
