Marvin was born July 15, 1933 in Hyde County, South Dakota to John and Hulda (Herr) Vilhauer. He lived his entire life in Hyde County and was a farmer, carpenter, and helped with the bees with his brother-in-law. Marvin was baptized and confirmed in Our Savior Lutheran Church in Highmore. He married Virginia “Ginger” (Myers Whitney) on July 9, 1965 at Our Savior Lutheran Church.
He was well liked by everybody. Marvin loved kids and the little ones especially liked him.
Cherishing his memory is his wife, Virginia of 45 years; five sisters: Irene Ensign, Violet Schneider, Luella Schimmel, Velda (Art) Twedt and Ruby (Howard) Cables; many nieces and nephews; two step-children and four step grandchildren; two aunts and uncles; and many cousins.
Preceding him in death were his parents; one brother; one sister; and four brother-in-laws.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed to the Hyde County Steps for Hope or the Bed and Breakfast Hospice in Pierre.

we are so sorry for your loss and we will always remember all of our holidays spent at the alfson house and growing up and always being around marvin and ginger as a kid. you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
Your in my prayers, if you need anything please let me know… He was a good guy ..
Our farm was a couple of miles from Vilhauers southwest of town. Gordon and Helen Ray moved out of Hyde County in 1964. There were 4 of us Ray kids and we always enjoyed visits from Marvin and Harvey as well as Mr. and Mrs. Vilhauer. We lived just west of Peterson school. I have fond memories of growing up in the country and having good neighbors like the Vilhauer family. Prayers for Marvins family! Sue Ray
