Mary Ana Blue Coat, 69, of Eagle Butte, entered the spirit world, Sunday August 23, 2026, at Medicine Wheel Village, Eagle Butte, SD

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. MDT, Saturday, August 29, 2026, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, Eagle Butte, SD. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Episcopal Cemetery, On The Tree. A procession from the 4-mile will be at 9:00 a.m.

Mary Ana Blue Coat was born November 18, 1956, to Jerry Blue Coat and Thelma (Janis) Bear Stops at the Old Cheyenne Agency. She attended grade school and high school in Eagle Butte, SD. Mary met Gene Black Bird and together had five children, Rita Memoree, Camille, Susette, Ramona, Vincent, and Soloman. They lived in Sioux City IA, later moving to Sioux Falls. She eventually returned to Eagle Butte and entered the Medicine Wheel Village. Mary is survived by her children: Camille, Susette, and Ramona; sister, Joyce Young Bird; and aunt, Margie Clown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three children: Rita, Soloman, and Vincent; and siblings: Vincent “Moon”, Richard, Arnold, Dale, and Charlotte Blue Coat.

Luce Funeral Home of Gettysburg has been entrusted with Mary’s arrangements.
